September, October and November are the perfect months to head back into nature with your campervan before winter sets in. We’ve put together everything you should have on board for your autumn camping trip, so you can start your adventure fully prepared.
Some things are essential when camping — no matter if you’re travelling in summer, heading out with the kids during the autumn holidays, or camping in the middle of winter. In late summer and autumn, it can still be quite warm in parts of Germany. However, you should also be prepared for cooler days and rain — and pack accordingly:
Comfortable clothing
For changing weather conditions — easy to layer when needed (layering principle): long-sleeve tops, T-shirts, functional shirts, sweaters or hoodies, and long trousers (e.g. leggings, zip-off trousers, linen trousers, rain pants), as well as shorts.
Different jackets
A good rain jacket and fleece, a softshell jacket, and a lightweight jacket for warmer days.
Additional outdoor essentials
Neck gaiter / multifunctional scarf and a beanie, sun protection for your head, and sunglasses.
Appropriate footwear
Sturdy footwear / hiking boots and sneakers, as well as sandals or other comfortable camp shoes.
