Must-Sees & Insider Tips
Camper & Motorhome in Erfurt
Whether you're heading through the Thuringian Forest, to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, or even further to Czechia or Poland, anything is possible from Erfurt. But maybe you’ll want to explore the area around Erfurt first. Here are some tips & ideas to kick off your camper adventure.

Explore Erfurt
- Krämerbrücke: A little like Florence’s Ponte Vecchio – just smaller and more German.
- Domberg: Not every hill comes with a cathedral and a church. This one does – and the view’s worth the 70 steps.
- egapark: Relax in one of Germany’s most beautiful parks and home to Thuringia’s biggest playground. Fun for the whole family!
- Petersberg Citadel: Want a view over Erfurt from above? Head up – it’s worth the climb!
- Hunting for the KIKA characters: All across the city, you'll find statues of famous characters from German kids' TV. A perfect little city scavenger hunt.
- Lange Brücke: Old houses, small boutiques, cute cafés – this is the kind of street you wander without a plan.

Exploring Around Erfurt by Camper
- Dornburg: Stroll along the “Saalehorizontale” hiking trail, past vineyards and sweeping valley views – plus a little time travel from Renaissance to Rococo to German Classicism.
- Treetop Walk in Hainich National Park: Walk above the treetops. The view from up here is truly "tree-mendous".
- Wartburg Castle: Luther translated the Bible here – but the castle has more to offer: hands-on medieval construction, rhyme-filled guided tours, myth & legend storytelling, and a café with homemade treats.
- Die Drei Gleichen: Maybe you’ve spotted them from the highway? Three castles that don’t look alike, never had the same owners – but still go by the name “The Three Alikes”.
- Drachenschlucht: Rock wall left, rock wall right, a rushing stream below – and in some places, barely shoulder-wide. Not for the claustrophobic!
