Freeway Camper & Vanever – Are the Camper Rentals Connected?
Freeway Camper is insolvent – here’s what that has to do with Vanever (spoiler: not much).
Long story short:
Freeway Camper and Vanever are not connected.
Long story long:
As you may have already heard, Freeway Camper is insolvent.
After an insolvency, everything a company still owns is sold. For Freeway, this could include camper equipment, vehicles, software, office equipment, and much more.
As part of the insolvency, we only acquired the website domains of Freeway Camper (e.g., www.freewaycamper.com, all blog posts, etc.). These now redirect to our site.
The money paid for this goes into the so-called insolvency estate and is distributed proportionally to the creditors (i.e., people to whom Freeway Camper still owes money), just like any other proceeds from the liquidation of the company. Other than the website domains now redirecting to Vanever, Freeway Camper and Vanever are not connected.

Freeway Camper & Vanever are not connected.
After Freeway Camper went bankrupt, Vanever purchased Freeway Camper’s domains (e.g., www.freeway-camper.com). That’s why the pages now redirect to vanever.com. Other than this domain redirection, the two camper rental companies are not related. Vanever was only involved in purchasing the domains, not in any other activities before, during, or after the insolvency.

So, if Freeway still owes you money (e.g., for a booking that could not take place due to the insolvency), you will receive a proportional share of what is payable from the insolvency estate. By purchasing the Freeway domains, we have slightly increased this “pool,” so it benefits you as well. On average, people recover 5–10% of the money owed to them in an insolvency. How much this will be for Freeway Camper cannot be said, as we are not involved in the insolvency. Please contact the responsible insolvency administrator for more information.

Freeway Camper is insolvent.
This means: all payments (bookings, voucher purchases, etc.) made to Freeway before the insolvency are now part of the so-called insolvency estate. This “pool” is managed by the insolvency administrator to pay off debts proportionally to the creditors. In most cases, the repayment is around 5–10% of the outstanding claims, but this depends on the insolvency case.
If the insolvency administrator has not yet contacted you, you can reach out directly. The contact can be found here: https://inso-liebig.de/kontakt/
Bookings and vouchers with Freeway Camper have nothing to do with Vanever. This means Vanever cannot take over bookings. Unfortunately, we also do not have any further information about the insolvency since we are not involved.
A former Freeway Station is now called Vanever - are they connected?
A former Freeway Station is now called Vanever - are they connected?
No. Freeway Camper had a few locations in Germany that operated similarly to a franchise concept. When Freeway went insolvent, these locations did not automatically become insolvent. Many now rent out their campers independently, while some have joined other camper rental companies. We are proud to say that some of these locations are now part of the Vanever Family – carefully selected because their standards and service fit perfectly with us.
We are truly excited to offer unforgettable camper trips with these locations!
If Freeway didn't make it - why should Vanever?
If Freeway didn't make it - why should Vanever?
Because we do it differently.
Vanever follows a different business model: no more owned campers, but a strong partner fleet.
This means: the vehicles come from professionals – dealers and outfitters who know how to deliver freedom on four wheels. We rent them for the season and return them afterward. Fewer self-owned campers. More focus on what matters: giving you the best road trip ever.
Vanever and FreeVenture GmbH had nothing to do with the insolvency of Freeway Camper. Therefore, we unfortunately do not have detailed information about the case. All information provided here has been gathered by us solely to answer customer questions. This is not legal advice; please contact the responsible insolvency administrator for that.
